Gun Store Employee Calls 911 on Herself
Was it an accident or the planned murder of her abusive boyfriend?
Introduction
Mary Katherine Higdon and Steven Freeman were high school sweethearts from Griffin, Georgia. They lived together and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities typical of living in the country. This all changed on the night of August 1st, 2018.
The Crime
911 dispatchers got a call from Mary saying, “she accidentally shot her boyfriend”. The police rushed to the scene and found a Glock 42 and Steven laying on the ground bleeding. Steven was still alive and breathing but they realized they had to get him to a hospital immediately. Police began asking Mary questions while first responders did their best to save Steven’s life. The first responders took Steven to the hospital but unfortunately, he didn’t make it and passed away that night.
The police began investigating the scene. There was food spread across the floor and grease on the gun. The food caused some concern because that could have meant there was a struggle. At the scene, Mary was interviewed and stated that she was handing the gun to Steven and it went off. She also said that she didn’t know a bullet was in the chamber. Mary…
