Mashed Potatoes Were the Murder Weapon
An affair with a 27-year difference caused a man to be murdered.
Introduction
Sarah Tarrant and Alois Rez were a young couple that by age 24 had been together for 9 years and shared 4 children together. They raised these children in Dubbo, Australia. Although the relationship started so young, it appeared strong and if asked, most people would say this relationship might be one that could have lasted. However, “most people” don’t get to peek behind closed doors. Rumors began to surface of gang activity with Alois and violence in the relationship. The motorcycle gang, Rebels, is prominent in the Dubbo area and he was rumored to be a member.
The Crime
Sarah met a man 27 years her senior named Raymond Roff. Raymond is a long-time friend of Alois Rez’s family. At age 54, Raymond was dealt with the heartbreak of his wife’s death from cancer. At this point, Sarah and Alois’s relationship was deteriorating and in 2012 she initiated a relationship with Roff. Eventually, Sarah became pregnant again and believed the child was Raymond’s. Raymond gave her an ultimatum to either leaves Alois or he’s going to leave her.
